Three brothers from the best-known men’s skiing family in Slovakia tested the giant slalom course in Jasná as forerunners – Adam Žampa, Andreas Žampa and the youngest Teo Žampa. But Adam fell like Petra Vlhová did during the race and ended up in hospital.
“I am very sorry about what happened to Peťa. Nobody wished anything like that to her. Adam is not physically ok either. But I hope that both of them will be back in the World Cup as soon as possible,” said Andreas to Slovak reporters in the finish area. “I was very surprised to see that Peťa isn’t getting on her feet. I felt very bad about it. I know how it feels and hope she will be back on skis soon. I wish her the fastest comeback possible,” added Andreas Žampa.
He enjoyed his forerunner role in the second run to the fullest. “The spectators welcomed me to the finish like their son. The atmosphere was truly unbelievable and the organisation was literally at an intergalactic level,” he confirmed.
Andreas is sorry that only women’s World Cup races have been organised in Slovakia in recent years. “The World Cup used to be organised in Hrebienok in the past. I know that men were competing there. I would like to experience it too. To race at home,” he concluded.
