Injured Slovak skier Petra Vlhová didn’t stay in the hospital in Ružomberok long. After initial examinations which proved that at least this season is over for her due to injured knee ligaments, she flew to Switzerland to discuss the problem with other experts. “She went to a specialist who has operated several skiers already. He will decide the further process,” said Igor Vlha, the father of the Slovak skier.
After Petra’s ugly fall, there were worries concerning her head too, but the head is ok, fortunately. “All examinations went well. The hit shoulder is all right too. It’s only the unfortunate knee,” noted Vlha, who came to watch the yesterday’s slalom race in Jasná although he could not see his daughter in action anymore. “Peťa is a fighter. She will come back and I hope she will be even stronger than before,” wishes Igor Vlha.
He admitted to be sorry for her fall and injury, but that’s sport. “There is always a risk when skiing. It has already happened and we have to accept it as it is,” said Vlha with a sad tone. “It is difficult also mentally. We had to get over it. Other skiers have got injured as well, though.”
Igor Vlha didn’t miss to comment the organisation of the World Cup in Jasná. “Hats off. I am glad that the association took on this task. It has not only been excellent. It has been top. The world has seen it. Everything has worked well – the transport, tickets. People have been happy. It has been a celebration of sport in Slovakia. A well-done and successful event.”
